Spacesly was born from a simple observation: finding the perfect venue for events was unnecessarily complicated and expensive. Too many middlemen, hidden fees, and limited options were making it difficult for people to celebrate life's most important moments.
We set out to build a platform that would connect venue owners directly with event organizers, cutting out the middleman and making the entire process transparent and affordable. Our vision was to create the largest marketplace of unique spaces, where anyone could find their perfect venue.
The early days were exciting. We partnered with hundreds of venues across the country, built an intuitive search platform, and started helping thousands of people find amazing spaces for their weddings, corporate events, and celebrations.
Then COVID-19 Changed Everything
In March 2020, the world stopped. Events were cancelled, venues closed, and the entire hospitality industry faced unprecedented challenges. Almost overnight, our thriving marketplace became a reminder of what we couldn't do - gather, celebrate, and connect in person.
Like many businesses, we had to make difficult decisions. The revenue model we had built around booking commissions was no longer sustainable when bookings dropped to nearly zero. We faced a choice: shut down or find a new way forward.
A New Mission
During those uncertain months, we received hundreds of messages from venue owners and event planners. They thanked us for creating a platform that had helped them connect, even if they couldn't use it at the moment. They asked us to keep the dream alive for when the world reopened.
That's when we realized something important: the value of Spacesly wasn't just in the transactions it facilitated, but in the connections it enabled. Even without revenue, the platform was serving a vital function - helping people discover spaces and connect with venue owners.
We made a decision that surprised even us: we would remove all booking fees and commissions, making Spacesly completely free to use. Instead of trying to monetize every connection, we would focus on creating the best possible experience for finding and connecting with venue owners.
What This Means Today
Today, Spacesly operates as a free service because we believe that connecting people with perfect spaces shouldn't require paying a middleman. When you use our platform, you connect directly with venue owners, negotiate your own terms, and keep all the savings.
We've maintained and expanded our database of venues, improved our search functionality, and continue to add new spaces every week. The platform you see today represents years of development and refinement, all available at no cost to users.
